Terms of Service
Last updated: 4 June 2026
01Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website at theforgeltd.com, the beta application distributed via TestFlight, and any related services (together, "The Forge"), operated by The Forge Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our").
By registering as an Operator, supporting the project, or using The Forge, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
02The short version
A plain-language summary — the full terms below still apply:
- ◈The Forge is in active beta. Things may change, break, or move around.
- ◈Be honest, be decent, and don't abuse the service or other people.
- ◈Supporter contributions are voluntary. The perks are our thanks for helping fund the build.
- ◈We give the beta to you "as is" — use it at your own discretion.
- ◈You own your goals and your data. We just run the system.
03Who can use The Forge
You must be at least 16 years old to register and use The Forge. By using it, you confirm you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate and your own.
04The service is in beta
The Forge is pre-launch software under active development by a small team. This means:
- ◈Features may be added, changed, or removed without notice.
- ◈The service may be unavailable, interrupted, or contain bugs.
- ◈Data, ranks, XP and progress are intended to carry over to launch, but during beta we cannot guarantee against loss.
- ◈Anything described as "coming soon" or on the roadmap is a statement of intent, not a promise of a delivery date.
05Your account
To use the full service you create an account through Firebase Authentication, using email and password or a Google or Apple sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
06Acceptable use
When using The Forge, you agree not to:
- ◈Break the law or use the service for anything unlawful or harmful.
- ◈Attempt to access, disrupt, or reverse-engineer our systems, or get around security or rate limits.
- ◈Submit false information, impersonate others, or misuse another Operator's account.
- ◈Upload anything malicious, or use the service in a way that harms us or other users.
We may suspend or remove access if these Terms are broken.
07Supporter contributions & payments
You can choose to support The Forge financially through our supporter tiers or through "Buy Me a Coffee". This is entirely voluntary.
- ◈Supporter-tier payments are processed securely by Stripe. Contributions through "Buy Me a Coffee" are processed by that platform. Your payment is subject to the relevant provider's own terms, and we never see or store your full card details.
- ◈Supporter perks (such as in-app badges, recognition, early access, or gear at launch) are our way of thanking you for helping fund development. They are delivered in the app at or after launch and depend on the continued development of The Forge.
- ◈Any recurring subscription plans shown on the site are not billed during beta. Paid subscription billing only begins at public launch, and you will be able to review and confirm before any subscription charge is taken.
- ◈Because contributions help fund work that is already underway, they are generally non-refundable except where required by law. If something has gone wrong with a contribution, contact us and we will deal with it fairly.
08Intellectual property
The Forge — including its name, branding, design, copy, character artwork, and software — belongs to The Forge Ltd or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may use the service for your own personal development, but you may not copy, resell, or redistribute any part of it without our permission. The goals and personal content you submit remain yours.
09Third-party services
The Forge relies on and links to third-party services — including Apple TestFlight, Google Firebase, Stripe, Buy Me a Coffee, and others. We are not responsible for those services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
10Disclaimers
The Forge is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Forge is a self-development tool — it is not medical, psychological, financial, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for professional help. You are responsible for your own decisions and actions.
11Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Forge Ltd will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profits, or progress, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have contributed to us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim.
12Termination
You can stop using The Forge and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or if we need to for legal, security, or operational reasons. Some provisions — including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, and liability — survive termination.
13Changes to these terms
As The Forge develops, we may update these Terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, give you reasonable notice. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
